CONDUCTOR AND MUSIC DIRECTOR

Mr. Peters is presently the director of the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Marching Band at Union-Endicott High School.

Prior to his position, he held similar assignments at high schools in Troy (PA) Hammondsport, Canandaigua, and Liverpool, NY.

His bands have successfully competed within the state of New York as well as on a national basis. In addition to several of his bands being named being named a finalist at the Bands of America National Championships, his concert bands at Canandaigua and Union-Endicott have consistently been awarded 6A+ or 6 gold ratings at NYSSMA Major Organization Festivals.

As a guest conductor, Mr. Peters has preformed at many county and all-state festivals in New York and Pennsylvania. He has also been a guest conductor at several music camps in Maine and Pennsylvania.

Having received a B.S in Music Education from Mansfield University, Mr. Peters attended Ithaca College and was awarded the degree of M.M in Music Education in 1972. While at Ithaca, he studied trumpet with James Ode and Herbert Mueller. He also studied composition with Karel Husa and conducting with Thomas Michalak.

Mr. Peters has performed with the B.C Pops Orchestra as well as the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes. He was Principal Trumpet of the Corning Philharmonic for 13 years and the Elmira Symphony for 11 years.

Currently, Mr. Peters is a certified NYSSMA adjudicator, has held state NYSSMA chairmanships and is the former president of the Broome County Music Educators Association. He is also on the executive board of the New York State Band Directors Association.
